So the internet is abuzz about the SOPA/PIPA movement. People are shocked that the American government is trying infringe on the freedom of speech it's constitution affords its citizens. (Patriot Act?)
For the rest of the world who isn't surprised a mobilized media force has been amassed to battle this horrible internet killing concept. Below are three steps to take to join the fight and crush things like this permanently.
1. Educate Yourself: Like most protests out there this one gained steam so fast it became almost a popculture fad. T-shirts and ballcaps were already on sale before most people had even had a chance to ask what it is. There are now thousands of sites that can not only break down what these 2 illustrious bills are but why they are raising such a stink as well. 2. Raise Awareness: This may seem like to simple a concept but in reality knowledge is power. The more people know the more they are equipped to do something about it. Need proof? Think back to what terrorism meant pre-9/11. North America got educated quickly and what once seemed like a foreign concept has become a daily news item to most in North America. Use the social networks you have at your disposal to spread the word and educate the masses.
3. Speak Out: Unfortunately a Facebook post does not qualify in this bracket. Nope no tweets either. One is going to assume you have already done all you can in your social media network using those mediums to reach out. This last step is about reaching up! Contact anyone and everyone who's paycheck is based on your vote. Mayors, Governors, Prime Ministers heck, even Presidents if you can manage it. Republican or Democrat doesn't matter. What matter's is flooding their inboxes with demands to speak out against the bill and to condemn it. The more politicians shooting this thing down the less hope it has of ever rearing its head again.
